San Miguel Corporation has announced that it will tap into the mobile telecommunications scene to offer subscribers an additional option other than Smart (owned by PLDT) and Globe. This hasn't been the first time they got involved in the phone market since they already acquired Liberty Telecoms, a carrier of the broadband connectivity service Wi-tribe, a few years back. But this has nothing to do with the company's first foray in this system, as they will be operating separately from Liberty Telecoms.

As of today, San Miguel is in the process of building cell sites across the country. They are planning to launch the mobile telco this coming 2014.

In addition, broadcasting company ABS-CBN also expressed its intentions to also launch its very own telco company by the end of the year. Be sure to watch this space for more details regarding the subject.
