Through the Green Electrician’s Laboratory project, Schneider Electric Foundation and Schneider Electric Philippines proved its support to DBTC Technical-Vocational Education and Training in teaching the electrical profession and developing quality technical training for underprivileged youths.

“We pursued this partnership with Don Bosco Technical College because it was an opportunity for us to give back to the community and what better way to do it than by providing educational opportunities to underprivileged youth. Through the Green Electrician’s Laboratory, we aim to educate the children of today and instill in them the value of green and sustainable energy management and its impact on the environment,” Claude Mazallon, Country Head, Schneider Electric Philippines, said.

The project will be teaching a minimum of 30 students annually, who will be given on-the-job trainings on Electrical Installation and Maintenance, as Schneider provides high-end didactic tools and equipment as well as an upgraded 14-month curriculum.

The Green Electrician’s Laboratory curriculum includes course of work and training on house and building wiring, fundamentals of electrical safety, troubleshooting and monitoring of electrical installation in residential and commercial buildings, basics of residential solar energy system installations, running a small business, and life skills.

Upon completion of the training, students will be awarded a National Certification 2 (NC2) qualification for Electrical Installation and Maintenance from Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
