Siemens, a global technology powerhouse in the areas of electrification, automation, and digitalization, hosted the first-ever Siemens Process Automation Conference & Exhibition (SPACe) in the country last August 31.

SPACe is an enriching platform that engages its attendees to discuss emerging trends and challenges within the industry sector. It is an opportunity to connect with industry peers, gain insights from experts, and have a first-hand access to the latest Siemens technologies. SPACe is held once every two years that includes presentation and technology sessions, micro-fairs, exhibitions, industry workshops, and networking sessions.

This year’s SPACe is covering most of the Southeast Asia lasting for about three months. Siemens aims to focus on customizing solutions for individual markets and sectors, embarking on the theme Driving the Digital Enterprise in Process Industries of Southeast Asia.

In line with the theme of the exhibition, Siemens launched version 9.0 of its SIMATIC PCS 7 Process Control System during the event. PCS 7 allows the quick response to changes in market requirements and enables manufacturers to ensure the continuous operation of systems. The version 9.0 supports the world leading Industrial Ethernet standard Profinet with two new distributed I/O lines for greater digitalization right down to the field level with extensive new software functionality.

SPACe Innovation Tour 2017 kicked-off in Vietnam last June, followed by Singapore and Thailand in August, and will conclude in Malaysia on September 07.
