Smart Introduces New and Improved SmartNet

Smart brings out a new and improved version of SmartNet, a suite of mobile apps that comes with free access to Yahoo! Services such as Yahoo! Search, Yahoo! Mail, and Yahoo! OMG. Smartnet is now available on the Google Play store so Android users can now start downloading it. It will soon come out with a version for iOS and Windows 7 mobile users.

Mitch Padua, Smart Head for Product Development for Internet Services, said, “The new SmartNet is a game-changer—not only can Smart subscribers access Facebook and Twitter feeds for free, but they can now also enjoy Yahoo!’s amazing free web services.”

SmartNet can also be used on feature phones through WAP or Mobile Web. Simply open the web browser and go to smartnet.ph. SmartNet still offers free access to Facebook and Twitter through the app's built-in menu. With a minimum balance of PhP 1, users can check, post, and share updates on these social networking platforms.

SmartNet offers a "Safe Browse" feature that can be easily activated with the Internet button on the SmartNet widget. With “Internet Off” enabled, Smart susbcribers can make use of the safe browsing capabilities of Smartnet which will permit Internet-capable smart phones to access SmartNet and other whitelisted sites of Smart for free.

“SmartNet enables users to maximize their phones’ capabilities as they experience using mobile Internet on the Philippines’ first and only super-charged mobile network—all without fear of racking up unexpected data charges or bill shock,” Padua added.
