Transcend has announced that its M.2 SSD Enclosure kit CM42 has won the Good Design Award 2017 recently.

Transcend’s CM42 M.2 SSD enclosure, an enclosure intended for M.2 SATA solid state drives (SSDs), has been given the top distinction as a result of having a top-quality, groundbreaking design. The enclosure was so innovative that it enables users to transform their M.2 SATA SSD into a portable USB 3.1 external drive to extend the life of their drives. The outlook also features a lightweight aluminum construction that makes it portable and durable.

It is also engineered to convert to a USB Type-C port as a response to the needs of accommodating devices with different USB venues, and the USB 3.1 interface with USB Attached SCSI Protocol (UASP) for faster transfers.

“Transcend’s CM42 M.2 SSD enclosure kit offers users a smart reuse solution for their M.2 SATA SSDs that are no longer used in PCs. The removed M.2 SSD can turn into a portable drive with Transcend’s M.2 SSD enclosure kit in a quick and easy way. In addition to its sleek design, the M.2 SSD enclosure kit also features latest high-speed interface which enhances its performance,” the Good Design Award jury commented.

The Good Design Award is one of the world’s most prestigious design competitions. It was created by the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry in 1957 and was then known as Good Design Selection System (or the G Mark System). Over the past 60 years, around 44,000 designs had been awarded, or 1,200 in average yearly. This year though, the award-giving body received a total of 4,495 submissions.
