WD's high-end Red Pro and Black drives are now available in 5TB and 6TB capacities

To satiate our thirst for more storage, WD has just announced that its high-end Red Pro and Black drives are now available in 5TB and 6TB capacities.

Introduced in 2014, the Red Pro lineup represents WD's highest performing drives designed for enterprise and NAS use. These high performance NAS drives spin at 7200rpm and were specifically designed for use in high vibration environments such as 8 and 16-bay NAS systems. The Red Pro drives also feature WD's NASware 3.0, a suite of technologies designed to improve reliability and system performance. The Red Pro drives will all come with a 5-year long warranty.

The new 5TB and 6TB Red Pro drives are available now and are priced at US$269 and US$299 respectively.

WD Black drives, on the other hand, were designed with gamers and creative professionals in mind. Featuring a 7200rpm spin rate and a large 128MB cache, the new WD Black 6TB is said to be up to 29% faster than the older WD Black 4TB. Like the Red Pro drives, Black drives are also backed by a 5-year long warranty.

The WD Black 5TB and 6TB are available now, with the former priced at US$264 and the latter at US$294.
