Western Union recently entered a deal with PayMaya Philippines to provide convenience for customers when receiving funds.

The agreement between the global money transfer and payments services company, and the leader in mobile money and digital services will allow consumers to have the choice of receiving cross-border money transfers via PayMaya app.

“Remittances are crucial for millions of Filipinos. We are thrilled to provide this digital capability as part of Western Union’s remittance service portfolio in the Philippine so Filipinos working abroad can send their hard-earned money in an innovative, reliable, and convenient way,” President and CEO at Voyager Innovations and PayMaya Philippines Orlando B. Vea said.

Aside from picking up cash from a Western Union agent location, this deal will allow customers to avail PayMaya payout option and get a message confirmation that the money has been paid to their account, then they can use the fund via PayMaya app to pay bills and shop virtually as well as buy prepaid load from telco companies with a discount.

“We’re working with industry leader like PayMaya in the mobile space to bring digital, cross-border money transfer—with the reliability associated with the Western Union name—to more Filipino consumers around the globe,” Bassem Awada, Western Regional Vice President  for Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, and Brunei, said.
